Pastor Jim Stolt began his ministry at Union Lake Baptist in July of 2001. He has served as the Pastor of Youth and Music ever since. He graduated from Moody Bible Institute with a Bachelors of Arts degree with a double major in Youth Ministry and Music Education. He has been married to Karyn Stolt since 1997 and has two children, Jacob and Sarah. He was licensed to preach on July 27, 2003 and Ordained to the Gospel ministry on June 11, 2004. Involvement at Union Lake has included teaching and leading TRUTH (the senior high and young adult youth ministry), leading the adult choir, directing the music and the drama for numerous musical productions, leading and participating in quartets and other ensembles, doing solo ministries, directing a Vacation Bible School, teaching various classes, leading missions trips, catering and decorating church events, leading a puppet ministry, and directing the Sparky program in AWANA. My motto is that I am “taking up my cross and following Jesus wherever He takes me and doing whatever He asks me to do.” God has given me a dual passion, each with equal weight and burden: youth ministry and music. Since I was in the eighth grade God has given me a desire to work among teenagers because of their willingness to think past their own box and open themselves to what God wants to do in them. The potential in a room of teenagers can equal a different world if they open themselves up to what God wants to do through them. It is during this time in their lives that they begin to ask what God wants to do through them. My goal is to help them through this process. Equally God has given me a desire to work in the area of music. To me, music is one avenue to pray. Hymns and choruses are the soundtrack of our spiritual lives. God gave us voices and the ability to play instruments for a reason: to give Him praise! God has given me a thirst to lead in worship, to draw His people into worship so that He is magnified and lifted up! In either ministry, my desire is to offer myself to God as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God and then to encourage the rest of the church to do the same for that is our spiritual act of worship (Romans 12:1).
